After an exhaustive search for the right Dachshund breeder we decided to go with Shirls Wispering Winds. It had been over 25 years since either my wife or I had a puppy and we we knew times have changed. Shirley couldn't have been any more patient with the numerous emails we sent each with 10 - 20 questions. We received timely answers which helped greatly to alleviate our concerns.
As we did our research we were considering two pups instead of one. Shirley helped us to weigh the pros and cons and we decided to adopt two. We are now the proud parents of two little boys: Bailey and Kilian. They are the sweetest little boys and seeing how happy they are together confirms we made to proper decision.
We can not say enough about our experience. The love and care that Shirley gives the pups is evidence of her love of this breed of dogs and her comittment as a top notch breeder of pure-breed dachshunds. If you are weighing adopting a dachshund you can do no better than Shirls Wispering Winds.

After several frustrating months trying to find a mini dachshund breeder in our area, we came across Shirlswhisperingwinds website. They were expecting a litter of puppies at any minute. Within a few days, our deposit was in and our puppy chosen. Every week we looked forward to the new photos that were posted so we could see her progress.
As first time dachshund owners we had lots of questions. Every email and phone call was answered promptly and knowledgeably.
We visited our puppy, Maya, when she was five weeks old. Since we were traveling several hours to get there, Shirley allowed us to come at our convenience. Arriving at her home it is apparent that puppies are a big priority in the household. The puppies and their pens are spotless. They are raised in the main living areas of the house where they receive lots of attention from Shirley, Ed and the kids. I’ve found this kind of socialization to be invaluable. From day one Maya has gone easily from person to person with her tail wagging happily. She is not the least bit timid or shy. While she has her feisty puppy moments, she is happiest curled up in someone’s lap, which is just what we hoped for. The adult dogs we met, Sentinel and Maya’s mom Rainey, were also beautifully groomed and had lovely dispositions.

My name is Christine and my husband and I bought a puppy from Shirley in May. Our little girl's name is Lily. I have to tell you what a pleasant experience it was to get a puppy from Shirls Whispering Winds. Shirley is a mini dachshund breeder who truly loves what she does. We chose to buy from Shirley's litter because of the tremendous amount of attention, care, and love that she and her family give to each and every puppy. Shirley cares for all her puppies and treats them as part of her family.
We were very excited when we first put our deposit down for Lily. However, we had to wait a few weeks before we could take her home with us. I had no need to worry though, as Shirley posted updated photos of all the puppies every week. We enjoyed seeing the growth and progress of Lily during our wait to pick her up. Shirley was also prompt to respond to all of my questions that I had about my new puppy.
In addition, Shirley provided us with a generous supply of food, toys, and blankets in order to get us off to a good start. (She even made us an adorable puppy album of Lily, starting from when she was born!).
Shirley is an outstanding breeder because of the passion and dedication that she brings to her work. My husband and I felt extremely comfortable and confident with our choice of Shirley as our breeder. We would definitely recommend her to anyone who is thinking about getting a new dachshund!

Throughout the whole process of adopting Toast, Shirley was very helpful and friendly. After looking at a few mini dachsund website I became quite comfortable with Shirley's. After searching all of Massachusetts for a miniature dachshund breeder, the Shirls Whispering Winds website provided me with a huge sigh of relief. The website was clear and well laid out. There were plenty of solid references and the puppies were beyond adorable. After looking at the upcoming litters page I immediately called Shirley with my questions. She was extremely helpful and seemed happy to talk with me. My husband and I felt more than comfortable to put down our deposit and begin the eager wait for the litter to be born. Once born, we latched onto Sir Henry right away. We couldn't believe how beautiful he was. In fact, the entire litter was perfect! I spent the next two months addicted to Shirley's website because of the wonderful photo updates that she would post every week or two. Her photography was very creative and well done, and we were able to see Sir Henry's personality shine through. At eight weeks, Shirley and her family kindly delivered him to us, even taking on the tiny and confusing streets of the city of Boston. She gave us an amazing puppy care pack which was filled with a wealth of information on what to do next, as well as all the proper veterinary papers, photos, and other fun things for little Sir Henry. Since we've received him, we have fallen in love with his fun and carefree personality. We love taking him on walks, on the train, and even to our places of study and work. All of our friends and professors have fallen in love with him almost as much as we have. We are so grateful to Shirley and her family for this wonderful dog. He makes our life an adventure, daily!
